The leading auto body repair company carries out various activities to reduce, reuse and recycle the waste it generates.
At present, Roberlo recovers more than 43% of the total waste it generates. In this respect, non-hazardous waste such as plastic film, pallets, scrap metal, among others, is managed. In the last year, more than 320 tons of wooden pallets, 75 tons of paper and cardboard, more than 12 tons of plastic packaging, more than 17 tons of scrap metal, and some 2,700 units of drums and IBC containers have been recovered to give these materials a second life.
In addition, Roberlo started a plastic cap collection campaign in May, with 8 collection points within its facilities. The aim of this campaign is to collect all the caps that are generated in the company (product packaging, plastic bottles, etc.) to recycle them and devote their recovery to research into Spinal Muscular Atrophy at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, through the organization Amics Contra l'AME (‘Friends against SMA’) in Lloret de Mar.
A year ago Roberlo implemented the "no cup" option in its automatic coffee machines. Thanks to this measure, the consumption of plastic cups has been reduced by 53% and reusable cups and mugs have been used instead. This represents a saving of 45 kg of this material, which means 145 kg less CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere, equivalent to running a refrigerator for 14 years.
The recovery of waste, specifically solid waste, means obtaining raw materials through recycling, which implies reducing the amount of waste that reaches landfill and the pollution that the planet is subjected to.
According to Roberlo, "the company is firmly committed to reducing and making the most of waste and is working every day to carry out new actions in this regard with the aim of increasing the percentage of waste that can be recovered and recycled."
